Classic Star Wars Lore in The Mandalorian
By John Saavedra
The Mandalorian has brought several beloved characters from The Clone Wars + Star Wars extended universe to live action.
The Mandalorian season 2 premiere reintroduced Tatooine marshal Cobb Vanth, a fan-favorite character first introduced in the Star Wars Aftermath books.
The action-packed episode was not only full of nods to A New Hope and Dune but it also made one HUGE revelation...
Boba Fett survived the sarlacc pit and may be on Mando and Baby Yoda’s trail!
Episode 2 introduced Frog Lady and her precious eggs, but also brought back the knobby white spider, a creature first drawn by Ralph McQuarrie for The Empire Strikes Back!
Then The Clone Wars fans completely lost it when Mandalorian hero Bo-Katan Kryze made her live-action debut in Episode 3, played by Katee Sackhoff!
The nostalgic third episode was directed by Bryce Dallas Howard, who proved she has a very bright future in Star Wars storytelling.
Legendary actor Carl Weathers made his Star Wars directorial debut in episode 4, an adventure full of direct references to classic scenes from A New Hope.
The episode also brought in one deep-cut piece of lore from the old Legends continuity...
Prepare for the return of the Imperial Dark Trooper!
Episode 5, which is written and directed by The Clone Wars mastermind Dave Filoni, could be set to bring beloved Jedi hero Ahsoka Tano to live action.
What part will Ahsoka play in Mando and Baby Yoda’s journey? Does it have anything to do with missing Rebels protagonist Ezra Bridger?
