Deadline reports that tickets to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will be made available on Monday night. The release of the tickets will be timed to when a final Rise of Skywalker trailer premieres following halftime of the Monday Night Football matchup between the New England Patriots and New York Jets. The game begins at 8:15 p.m. ET, meaning that the trailer is likely to premiere sometime between 9:45 and 10:15. There’s no word on what might be included in this final Rise of Skywalker trailer but perhaps it could reveal some more of the story that has been kept under wraps so far. Disney released a brief first look on Twitter.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker doesn’t premiere until December 20 but Disney and Lucasfilm have opted for the super early ticket availability strategy for this new Star Wars trilogy before with both The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. Back in 2015, early release tickets for The Force Awakens caused ticket sites to crash which still didn’t stop the J.J. Abrams-directed film from grossing over $2 billion worldwide and setting the domestic gross record at just under $1 billion. It still holds that domestic grossing record by a comfortable margin over last summer’s Avengers: Endgame.

The Rise of Skywalker will be the conclusion to both the new Star Wars trilogy that began with The Force Awakens and the Skywalker saga that began all the way back in 1977. J.J. Abrams returns as director to tell the conclusion to the story of Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyenga), Poe (Oscar Isaac), Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), and a whole host of new characters in a galaxy far, far away.
