Danny John-Jules: I'd accept Doctor Who role
Simon Brew
In an exclusive interview with Danny John-Jules, the Red Dwarf star admits that he'd be the Doctor, if he was asked...
Talking exclusively to Den Of Geek, Red Dwarf and Blade II star Danny John-Jules had said that he's take the role of Doctor Who if it was offered.
The actor, currently promoting the film Sucker Punch, told us " I would do it. I can roll my eyes and overact. With Doctor Who, with the script you have, and the history, I think that people are actually playing the legend rather than the character. I've been to sci-fi conventions, and I've met every Doctor Who and assistant. I remember doing children's stories with Sophie Aldred, there's photos of me and Jon Pertwee, Colin Baker, I've met all of those guys. I looked at them all and thought "I wouldn't be like any of them", and they've all been different."
He doesn't believe it'll ever happen though, saying that "There are so many actors in the world that you could be more different with the casting - you could have a young guy from Zimbabwe, but it's all white and middle-class".
