Doctor Who: Tennant getting big offer to stay?
Simon Brew
People may be taking odds on who the next Doctor Who is, but perhaps it might be worth wagering on David Tennant staying around a bit...
Last week, we reported that William Hill had lined up a list of candidates for the next Doctor Who, and had begun taking bets. Some of the names were obvious, some were just odd.
But according to a report in The Scotsman, the BBC may have other ideas. For they are believed to be preparing a seven-figure offer to carry on as the Time Lord for some time yet, with a salary of £1.3m mooted. According to the report, talks are set to kick off with Tennant in the near future, to try and put a deal together.
We do know, of course, that Tennant has already been filming this year's Christmas special, so he's on our screens at least until the end of the year. And he's quoted at the end of The Scotsman's story as saying ""I've been asked when I'm quitting since the first day I took the part. I've not quit – I've just not been offered another deal yet."
