Doctor Who: The Waters Of Mars: the new trailer

Catch the brand new trailer for Doctor Who: The Waters Of Mars, that starts the beginning of the end for David Tennant as the famous Time Lord…

Published on Nov 5, 2009

The BBC has released a brand new trailer for the upcoming Doctor Who special, The Waters Of Mars. Broadcasting on Sunday November 15th at 7pm, the trailer hints at some of the darkness inherent in the episode, not least from the voiceover at the end, which champions it as "the beginning of the end".

We managed to sneak into the press screening for the episode last week, and while we're not allowed to say too much, we can make this clear: this is one of the darkest episodes of new Who we've seen, and if you were one of those disappointed by Planet Of The Dead, then you have no fears here. The Waters Of Mars is much, much, much better. For this writers' money, it's one of the best episodes of the show since it came back.

Here's the trailer to whet (see what we did there?) your appetite for it...

I just hope this doesn't turn out to be this years cool, dark 'Midnight' before the ultra bombastic, sentimental 'Journeys End'

why what was wrong with Midnight? I thought that was one of the three best episodes of the new series.

Sorry, no there was nothing wrong with midnight at all and I agree with you. I mean Russell T. Davies wrote the great Midnight which was the 3rd last episode of the last season and it was cool, dark and stand alone and then immediately followed it with the tremendously hyped Journey's End which ended up been a bit of a bloated mess. So af 'Waters' is the 3rd last ep this year and its cool and dark, as it indeed appears to be, I just hope that it isn't a sign that Davies intends to wrap up the final 2parter (The End of Time) with more happy clappy sentimentality like he did last time.

Looks fab! Needs to be good after the rather flat Planet of the dead. I don't see how it can be too sentimental seeing as Dr10 kicks the bucket, better off being a twisting turning race to the end (of time). Hope it all lives up to it's billing otherwise RTD will be pilloried and we'll forget the great job he did bringing Who back to TV in the first place.
