Doctor Who: The Waters of Mars preview

Cameron K McEwan

The BBC have announced their Autumn line-up and managed to slip in some Doctor Who action. And is there another Children In Need special on the cards?

Published on Jul 9, 2009

Fans of Doctor Who can get a bit more excited (as if Torchwood wasn't enough!) as the BEEB have posted a one minute preview clip of the next special, The Waters of Mars. You can find the video HERE.

Although no date has been given - "Novemberish" being the time frame cited - the BBC's synopsis of the second of four specials tells us that The Doctor meets his "cleverest and most strong-minded companion yet", Adelaide, played by acclaimed British actress Lindsay Duncan. She is the head of the Mars Base and doesn't take kindly to an uninvited appearance by The Doctor. Peter O'Brien, star of Neighbours and Casualty, also guest stars as Ed, Adelaide's second in command. The Waters Of Mars is written by Russell T Davies and Phil Ford and is directed by Graeme Harper.

In other Who news Lizo Mzimba, BBC journalist and uber-fan, has revealed, via Twitter, that this year's Children In Need will definitely feature Doctor Who in some capacity. News as and when we get it!

Looks like the Doctor and his friend have happened on a couple with a very strange fetish. Oh, and that picture up top of this page and to the right... is that Chucky? "Novemberish." Now THAT'S torture! (From a July perspective.)

Novemberish, and a ghoulish looking Dr Who Story.... All Hallows Eve anyone? Paradox looks like it might be an interesting high sci fi program as well, if it lives up to the billing.

It's got Lyndsay Duncan in it. That in it's self is enough to make sure i watch. The leaking zombie types are like sticky sweet strawberry sauce on top of your double flake 99 to make it look more tempting.

Blimey...that Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall has let himself go hasn't he?
