Avatar: new interactive trailer, catch a preview of the soundtrack

Snippets of James Horner’s score plus new featurettes keep the Avatar publicity bandwagon rolling…

Published on Nov 25, 2009

Welcome to what may as well be the latest edition of Today In Avatar, our regular round-up of the latest goings on surrounding James Cameron's 3D epic, which finally arrives in cinemas next month.

Firstly, there's a preview of the soundtrack album. We've been really looked forward to hearing a brand new James Horner score for a big James Cameron movie, and international music seller Exlibris.ch has uploaded preview snippets of the music to its website.

It's hard to get too much of a flavour from a series of 20 second snippets, to be fair, so we won't say much about it, save for you just need to go here to have a listen. You can also get a preview of Leona Lewis' title song from the film there, too.

Secondly, Fox's latest wheeze is to launch an interactive trailer for the film. This looks quite interesting, and it promises that it'll keep updating it with new footage in the run up to the film's release. Right now, there are numerous featurettes surrounding the production of the film for you to peruse, and you can download the the interactive trailer to your computer from the film's website here.

Avatar arrives in the UK on 17th December.

With thanks to Charlie Brigden for alerting us to the soundtrack

Smurfs. Battle for Terra. Ferngully. CGI effects. James Cameron eats babies. Now I have got the usual out of the way, does anyone have anything else to add?

Blah blah woof woof

It *is* getting hard to say anything new. But the interactive trailer (of you're willing to let more unidentifiable and uncontrollable Adobe software onto your precious) is at least something semi-new. The featurettes about the beasties are fairly standard and a little disappointing, but the character pieces have the benefit of letting us hear from the actors. Who doesn't want to spend a few minutes with Sigourney?
