Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides director confirmed
Simon Brew
Rob Marshall will be directing the further adventures of Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates Of The Caribbean 4…

It's now been confirmed what had been strongly rumoured pretty much since last summer, that Rob Marshall has signed up to direct Pirates Of The Caribbean 4.
The news has come via AintItCoolNews, as one of its readers attended a Q&A screening of Marshall's new film, Nine. In response to a question put to him as to what his next project was going to be, Marshall reportedly said that he was offered a project that he never thought he would do. When pressed further on the matter, he confirmed that the project in question was Pirates Of The Caribbean 4.
Disney itself hasn't confirmed the news, but given that Marshall revealed it in front of a sizeable audience, it's surely just a matter of time before he does.
Marshall is an interesting choice, too. I didn't care much for his film of Chicago (but lots of other people did), and confess to not having seen Memoirs Of A Geisha. He's certainly a dab hand at choreographing on-screen action, and has worked with family entertainment before.
Is it a clever, lateral choice from Disney? That we won't find out until the summer of 2011 when the film is released. But the hard work begins soon, as Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is set to start filming early next year.
