Roger Rabbit sequel finds its writers

Robert Zemeckis rehires the original writers of Who Framed Roger Rabbit? for the planned sequel…

Published on Nov 2, 2009

Earlier this year, director Robert Zemeckis revealed that he'd been considering the idea of a sequel to his mid-80s hit Who Framed Roger Rabbit? This was, naturally, very good news, but Zemeckis has been head down since then polishing off his new film of A Christmas Carol, which hits cinemas at the end of the week.

However, as part of the promotional tour for A Christmas Carol, Zemeckis has been talking about the fate of Roger Rabbit 2, and it seems that there's a strong chance this one's going to happen. When quizzed by MTV about the fate of the film, he revealed that a script was, indeed, in the works and that "We've got the original writers that are working on it now - [Peter] Seaman and [Jeffrey] Price."

No firm time frames were mentioned, and given the complexities of a project such as Roger Rabbit, it's clearly not something that's going to happen overnight. Also, original star Bob Hoskins has given every sign that he's reluctant to return to the franchise. So there are clearly one or two challenges to face before the film goes before the cameras.

We'll keep you posted on it, anyway, and we'll have our review of A Christmas Carol later this week...

Minor correction but the original film was titled "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" without the question mark at the end. It's considered unlucky in Hollywood to have a film title ending in a question mark.

This is one of those films that definitely would not be improved by a sequel. It's perfect as it is. (BTW, I recently read the original book, and the film is so much better on just about every level IMHO)

Who wouldn't want to see Jessica Rabbit in action again!? I'd pay the entrance fee for that alone!

Oh Boy, If a film ever begged a sequel it wad this one. Hopefully Bob Hoskins comes to his senses.
