Saw 6 teaser trailer, Saw 7 greenlit

Simon Brew

This October, we get Saw 6. Next October, we get Saw 7. We've got news on them both right here...

Published on Jul 27, 2009

For all the vitriol and criticism that the Saw franchise acts as a magnet for, with the films being seen as a poster child for all that's wrong with modern day horror movies (although there's clearly a case in there, which has been debated many times over), the series is still arguably the best-marketed movie franchise on the planet. It matters not that, seemingly without fail, the films get hit by reviews the wrong side of generous - every year, Saw mops up at Halloween in cinemas, and then does so again when the DVDs come round.

Unsurprisingly, therefore, Saw VI is heading to cinemas this October, and once more, Lionsgate has put together a slick promo trailer to tease the upcoming film. This year's gimmick seems to be surround the number six quite a lot given the trailer's content, which actually tells you very little, short of letting you know that the film exists. Which, of course, is the point of the exercise.

Meanwhile, just in case you're sat there thinking that it's all well and good having Saw VI this October, but what are you going to do the year after, Lionsgate has come to your rescue. It's confirmed that - yes! - Saw VII is heading into production in January of 2010, ready for its usual Halloween release slot. Brilliantly, this time the film is being directed by the production designer of Saws 2 to 4, David Hackl, who also helmed Saw V. Rumours that the work experience kid might get the gig if this all carries on for another decade have not been commented on.

Anyway, enough of that. The teaser trailer for Saw VI follows these words, and by the magic of the Internet, you should be able to press play and enjoy...

This pisses me off. Saw 5 was utter garbage that's wasn't logical at all with tasks that a blind cripple could get out of. I spent the next 3 days cursing the film and was informed from multiple sources (apparently close to Tobin Bell) that my pain would end at 6. A lie! Now, I have atheory as to why it's still popular.... Because the first film was genuinely good (in my opinion), and people thought the first sequel would be good. It wasn't, but number 3 linked in with it so people went back. Now, we get to Saw 4, and Id had enough, but my then girlfriend made a fuss that she liked them. It was awful, a was horrible, a sloppy mess trying to use as many plot threads from the previous films as possible. Another year passed, another girlfriend saying "but I like Saw". And we both hated it. This past weekend we found other sites with the new trailer, and we both agreed it looked shit, but we also agreed we would see it, mainly out of a sence of seeing it through to the end rather than acknowledging the massive waste of time since Saw 2. So I'll be seeing it, and despising myself for doing so.
