Re: Avatar: too much teasingNo, not too much teasing I think. We get too many trailers and spoilers these days. If James Cameron - the most technologically revolutionary / highest grossing director in the world tells me this film is absolutely awesome and it needs to be seen in big fucking IMAX in glorious 3D, I don't mind if there's no tease to play over the net (even if QuickTimeHD looks lovely on my 40"). It's about time there was a film that didn't get it's audience in by showing you the money shots Intbe trailers BEFORE you've paid to see it (The Day The Earth Stood Still, anyone).
Re: Avatar: too much teasingCouldnt agree more, im pretty sick of seeing all the best bits of the film in the trailer, i completely avoided all promotional material for the dark knight purely for this reason. Because of this it was all fresh and i enjoyed it much more because i didn't know what was coming
Re: Avatar: too much teasingYeah Hey I'm With Everybodyl Else On Here. Zabulus, Gudge, You Have My Back ;-)
Re: Avatar: too much teasingCameron knows what he's doing this time....I just have a hunch on this...
Re: Avatar: too much teasingI'm sure we'll see lots of bits later, they probably just don't have bits ready yet or, perhaps, they can't "deploy" the "bits" until their Marketing Strategy says so. ;)

Re: Avatar: too much teasingyea im in agreement. I would like to see something about the movie. Even just a good teaser trailer. While it is a bit annoying it does seem to really have people intrigued. So perhaps this plan is working. |

Avatar: too much teasing

Mark’s already fed up with James Cameron's Avatar, and he’s not talking about the movie itself...

Is it just me, or is anyone else getting slightly bored with the peek-a-boo antics of James Cameron in respect of Avatar?
The movie is scheduled for a December 18th release, so that’s just over five months away, and as yet no actual footage has been released online. This despite last month there being at least 24 minutes worthy to show at the Dutch CineExpo in Amsterdam, and, reportedly, Comic Con will be also be honoured, or not, depending on who you talk to.
I think the studio is in danger of overplaying its hand in the anticipation game here, because the hype surrounding the movie is already beginning to aggravate me and I’ve not yet seen a frame of it.
I’m also wondering just how far the tease might go. Could we get all the way to December without a trailer? I hope not, but obviously there’s a very strategic plan to market Avatar and build hype that might find that notion attractive.
From what people saw in Amsterdam the footage is ‘jaw-dropping’, but I’d rather have my own mandible fall under the influence of gravity than experience it third hand.
Mr Cameron, stop with the teasing, please!
