Want to know when Star Trek is blasting on DVD and Blu-ray?
Published on Jun 25, 2009
As Star Trek prepares to cross a quarter of a billion dollars at the US box office - and who, really, ever thought we'd see that day back when Star Trek: Nemesis flopped at the box office? - the inevitably attention has shifted towards when we might see JJ Abrams' supreme reboot on DVD and Blu-ray.
The date to mark in your diary, it seems, is 5th October, or thereabouts, given that Amazon in Germany has put the film up for pre-order on that date. Furthermore, some details have been put up at The Digital Bits, which suggest we're going to get an extras-packed feast when it does turn up.
The Blu-ray, the site reports, will feature an audio commentary with JJ Abrams, Bryan Burke, Damon Lindelof, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. You'll also get six behind the scenes featurettes, four ‘where no man has gone before' featurettes (intriguingly including ‘The Shatner Conundrum'), seven starships featurettes, five aliens featurettes, two planets featurettes, nine deleted scenes (including the birth of Spock), four trailers, a gag reel and a game trailer. We expect most of that
None of this has been formally confirmed by Paramount, and The Digital Bits has further information right here.
Paramount, incidentally, is also set to release - although again, it's not confirmed this - Star Trek Generations, Star Trek First Contact, Star Trek Insurrection and Star Trek Nemesis onto Blu-ray around the same time.
