New director for Barbarella

The continuing stoooory of a space-babe in search of commitment...from a studio...

There's new hope for the remake of Barbarella after Sin City director Robert Rodriguez decided not to move to Germany to realise the project.
Robert Luketic, who directed original Barbarella Jane Fonda in Monster-In-Law, is now attached to the project. De Laurentis Productions are also seeking the involvement of a less penny-pinching studio than Universal, who were ready to send Rodriguez & Family into German 'budget exile' to bring the remake in on the cheap.
A source close to the project says: "It will be a big intergalactic adventure with a sexy twist."
Intergalactic? I have to wonder about the basic knowledge of astronomy among movie-folk. Do they realise how far away galaxies really are from each other, and how long it would take to cross that distance? Eric Idle puts it into perspective well in Monty Python's Meaning Of Life (1982):
If Rose McGowan is not to play the part after all - and her association with the project is doubly-screwed after both her departure from Rodriguez and Rodriguez's departure from the pic - then we may be set for a very interesting run of casting rumours...
