Star Trek: Chris Pine talks James T Kirk

Chris Pine has been discussing stepping into the shoes of William Shatner…
With the next trailer for the rebooted Star Trek due shortly, Chris Pine has been talking to Star Trek magazine about stepping into the shoes of William Shatner as Kirk. As reported at the excellent, TrekMovie.com, the two have been in touch quite often about the role, it seems, and Pine has said that he’s “merely taking over” the role of Kirk for a bit.
Furthermore, Pine has noted his vision of the character. “I think what’s great about it is he’s insecure, he’s damaged, he’s cocky, he is brash. He is all these things at once, and he’s a hero, but a very human hero”, he says. He also said that “what really got me about the role were two pivotal scenes at the beginning of the movie that lays out James T. Kirk to a T”.
