Den of Geek wishlist: Smaug ashtray

For the record, I don’t smoke. I don’t like smoke around me, I don’t allow smoking in my home, and I’m actually very allergic to it and do my best to discourage all the nicotine (and ahem, other substance) puffers to pick up respectable habits like chewing tobacco and intravenous injections of heroin. What you do to yourself is fine; just don’t also expose me to it.

That said, I’d make an exception for smokers who are awesome enough to tote around something like this Smaug ashtray (with closable skull flap to hide your ashy shame) I found on Forbidden Planet. If I smoked, this would definitely be the centerpiece of my living room. Even still, Smaug is incredibly tempting.

The level of detail is staggering, and for any proper Lord of the Rings fan this should be a required part of their home décor. Even if you don’t smoke, it’s still a great place to keep change, an impressive candy dish, or even a thematically-appropriate storage area for your 20-sided die that’s guaranteed to make you the hit of any Dungeons & Dragons gathering!

The only thing that could make this ashtray better is if smoke came out of Smaug’s nostrils once you filled his head with burning incense or discarded cigarettes. If it does? I’m sold at any price you care to name. I’d have already ordered one myself, only it is currently out of stock. You can bet I’m waiting for my chance.
