GTA IV: The Ballad Of Gay Tony debut trailer

Aaron Birch

The latest tale from the streets of everybody’s favourite crime ridden metropolis emerges from the studio in the newest Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City…

Published on Sep 3, 2009

It's not long now until Rockstar, if the previous Lost And Dammed is anything to go by, will once again show other developers just how Xbox 360 DLC should be done, as The Ballad Of Gay Tony approaches release.

Set to arrive on October 29th in both DLC and physical form as part of the Episodes From Liberty City pack (which incorporates The Lost And Damned [reviewed here] on the same disc), The Ballad Of Gay Tony is an understandably eagerly awaited title, and to hold off those pre-car jacking jitters, we've got the first trailer for you.

This new GTAIV episode will cast players in the role of Luis Lopez, an associate of the title character, Anthony ‘Gay Tony' Prince. Gay Tony, who appeared briefly in Niko Bellic's GTA outing, was once a big name in Liberty City, particularly its nightlife. However, it appears things have turned a little sour for the don of debauchery, and it's safe to assume that we'll be treated to a traditionally crime-tastic spree of carnage with the aim of restoring Tony's once fruitful empire.

The trailer, entitled "You'll Always Be The King Of This Town" certainly confirms that Rockstar has once again upped the ante as far as OTT antics and ever more impressive action film-style missions go. It would seem as though neon-drenched fire fights, bare knuckle pit fights, subway train hijacks and impromptu departures out of helicopters are staple skills needed to survive in the disco-inferno world of Gay Tony, and it's also confirmed that the much requested parachute will return, much to the joy of GTA base jumping fans out there (with some form of base jumping achievement surely attached).

The trailer has certainly whetted our appetites here at DOG, and here's hoping that the team can pull out the same level of class as the previous DLC. Rest assured, you can expect a full review soon.

Wow, this looks like the game that GTA IV should have been. Was anyone else sorely disappointed at the lack of stuff to do aside from the side mission? Such as buying property and business like in Vice City (which is still the best GTA).

Sorry... meant to say "the lack of stuff to do aside from the main mission?"
